Biography
1967 / age 0
Corey Weiner born in New York.
1975 / age 7
Moves to Southern California and is greatly influenced by the media,
disco, frozen yogurt and some roller skating turban-clad guitarist on
Venice Beach.
1984 / age 16
Gets his first camera, a pawned Canon AE-1, and a job as staff
photographer on his high school newspaper. Duties also include
advertising sales, typesetting and paste-up. At night, he works as a
busboy in a seafood restaurant, eating lobster and earning $40 per
shift. Saves enough money to spend the summer touring Europe with
backpack and camera. Discovers art, design and the most amazing
bread he's ever eaten.
1985 / age 17
His straight "C" high school grades guarantee entrance at a non-Ivy
League university conveniently located about 10 minutes from his
apartment.
1991 / age 24
Eventually graduating with a B.S. in Marketing, decides to pursue a
career in advertising. Joins Rubin Postaer and Associates in Santa
Monica as a Junior Beginner Cappuccino Barista on the Honda
automotive account. Gains valuable creative, production and client
service experience at a very high level of quality.
1994 / age 27
Joins Crispin Porter Bogusky in Miami and spends three years as
Senior Account Football between creative department and clients.
Works on AT&T Wireless, Travel Channel Latin America and other
accounts until he just can't take anymore of it.
1997 / age 30
Realizing he actually could take some more of it, joins boutique
design firm Pinkhaus, working on travel and hospitality accounts.
Finally, it was Pinkhaus who decided that Corey needed to change his
career path.
1998 / age 31
By chance, an interior designer sees some of Corey's snapshots and
asks him to professionally photograph her projects. Realizing he
could possibly make a living with this hobby, he invests in new
equipment and begins shooting residential properties for architects,
designers and real estate brokers. Red Square Photography is born.
Images appear in Forbes, Wallpaper, Metropolitan Home and other
publications.
2003 / age 36
Focus turns to hotels and resorts after Wallpaper sends him to shoot
a Relais & Chateaux property in the Caribbean. This shoot begins a
string of projects for Hyatt, Radisson, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and
other hospitality brands. Clients push to combine architectural and
lifestyle shoots which gives way to more resort, spa and fitness
projects. Over the next four years, Corey completes projects in
Europe, Asia and across North America.
2009 / age 41
A re-launch of the portfolio site showcases work from Red Square's
first decade.
